Short Description
It is a sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) for Muslims to manifest their joys and gathering for all people as this is the most effective way demonstrating Islam. In this regard, Al-Bukhari narrated on the authority of Um `Atiya: (We were ordered to bring out our menstruating women and veiled women in the religious gatherings and invocation of Muslims on the two `Id festivals. These menstruating women were to keep away from their Musalla. A woman asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ' What about one who does not have a veil?" He said, "Let her share the veil of her companion.) on another tradition related by Al-Bukhari on the authority of Um `Atiya as well who said: (We used to be ordered to come out on the Day of `Id and even bring out the virgin girls from their houses and menstruating women so that they might stand behind the men and say Takbir along with them and invoke Allah along with them and hope for the blessings of that day and for purification from sins.)
It was a sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) to wear the new and fine clothes at the Day of Eid which is demonstrated by the b=narration of Al-Bukhari that Umar ibn Al-Khattab offered the Prophet a new fine clothing as saying: (oh Messenger of Allah, you may buy this new fine clothing on Day of Eid to meet people and delegations with it). The Prophet disliked it only because it is made from silk which is prohibited for men to wear.
Dressing well at day of Eid pleases people and attracts attention which achieves the supreme goal of Muslim gatherings. It is preferable for Muslims to wait after performing Eid prayer and listen to Khutba which is demonstrated by the narration related by Abu-dawud, ranked sahih by Al-Albani, on the authority of Abdullah ibn As-saib who said: I attended the 'Id prayer along with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). When he finished the prayer, he said: We shall deliver the sermon; he who likes to sit for listening to it may sit and he who likes to go away may go away.)
Let’s be keen to observe Eid prayer together with our household and wait listening to Khutba after prayer.
